Roma ensembles from all over Europe are coming together in Berlin for COMMON TONGUE II – International Roma Theater Festival. For six days, the Grüner Salon at Volksbühne will become a stage for stories of memory, migration, belonging, and visions of the future.

The festival celebrates a culture that has resisted centuries of persecution and exclusion, creating a space of empowerment, encounter, and creativity. With performances ranging from political to poetic, from humorous to deeply personal, COMMON TONGUE II offers a polyphonic panorama of Roma life today – and imagines solidaristic futures beyond borders.

COMMON TONGUE II – Das Internationale Roma-Theaterfestival lädt Roma*-Ensembles aus ganz Europa nach Berlin. Sechs Tage lang wird der Grüne Salon der Volksbühne zur Bühne für Geschichten über Erinnerung, Migration, Zugehörigkeit und Visionen der Zukunft.

Das Festival feiert eine Kultur, die Jahrhunderte der Verfolgung und Ausgrenzung überstanden hat, und schafft einen Raum für Empowerment, Begegnung und Kreativität. Mit Aufführungen, die von politisch bis poetisch, von humorvoll bis zutiefst persönlich reichen, bietet COMMON TONGUE II ein vielstimmiges Panorama des heutigen Roma*-Lebens – und entwirft solidarische Zukunftsvorstellungen über Grenzen hinweg.
