AKE DIKHEA? U C?
Festival of Romani film
19th – 22nd October 2017
Moviemento, Kottbusser Damm 22, Berlin-Kreuzberg
Antigypsyism makes you blind. Blind to the diverse, complex reality around us, which does not correspond to the widespread stereotypes about Roma and Sinti. That is why, on the occasion of the fifth anniversary of the inauguration of the memorial to the Sinti and Roma of Europe murdered under the National Socialist Regime, we are asking the question: “Ake dikhea? Do you see?”
Four festival days allow visitors to see the world through the eyes of Roma and Sinti. What topics are important to the largest European minority, how does it perceive itself and how does it want to be seen? In addition to film screenings, the festival offers public discussions with filmmakers, podium discussions with experts, workshops, performances for schools, concerts and parties.
Here you will find our SAVE THE DATE.
CALL FOR FILMS runs until September 10th, 2017.
Until then, Sinti and Roma organizations, as well as individuals who identify themselves as Roma or Sinti, can register for films, whether made by Roma or Sinti. What is important is that the films submitted show the highest degree of reflection on prejudice against Sinti and Roma.
In September an international jury will meet in Berlin to select about 10 films from the registered films to be shown during the festival between the 19th and 22nd October 2017 in Berlin.
For more information on the terms and conditions of the application, please download the CALL FOR FILMS. For each registered film, the ENTRY FORM must be completed. We offer our support.
The festival is organized by the Berlin Roma self-organization RomaTrial in cooperation with the oldest cinema in Germany, the Moviemento, as well as the Evangelical Academy of Berlin, and supported by the broad social alliance for solidarity with the Sinti and Roma of Europe. Funded by the International Visegrad Fund. Media partner is taz. the daily newspaper.
